The wireframe table is part of a furniture collection inspired by structural efficiency. The oak tabletop is supported by a wireframe of steel rebar pieces of which the position is derived from computer simulations.
The inspiration came from minimal surface structures, which are surfaces that found the minimum area between its connection points. A soap film is a good example of a material that forms into minimal surfaces. In the wireframe table a minimal surface is created between the tabletop and the four endpoints of the legs. The rebar used in this piece of furniture were leftovers at a concrete factory.
The rebar pieces create a network which follows the shape of the minimal surface.
